NAD+, or Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, is a crucial molecule in our bodies that plays a vital role in numerous cellular processes.
Imagine NAD+ as a spark that keeps the engine of each of your cells running! It is essential for converting the food we eat into energy, repairing damaged DNA and regulating cellular responses to stress.
NAD acts as an essential catalyst in the process of cellular metabolism, facilitating the conversion of nutrients into ATP (Adenosine triphosphate), the energy source for cells. For example, during physical exercise, NAD helps transform glucose and fatty acids into the energy needed for muscle contraction.
NAD plays a crucial role in the repair and maintenance of DNA. It works by activating enzymes that detect and repair DNA damage, thereby preventing genetic mutations and maintaining cellular integrity, to prevent premature cellular aging and certain diseases.
NAD intervenes in regulating fundamental cellular processes, including responses to stress. It modulates the activity of key proteins that control processes such as the inflammatory response and antioxidant defense, ensuring an optimal cellular response to different environmental stimuli.
During these phases of life, the body maintains optimal levels of NAD, which translates into high efficiency in cell growth, repair and regeneration processes. This explains the rapid recovery and high energy levels observed in children and teenagers.
As age progresses, there is a gradual decline in NAD synthesis. This reduction negatively impacts the energy efficiency of cells and their ability to repair DNA, contributing to aging processes and reduced resilience against cellular damage and oxidative stress.
There isn't a specific age to begin NAD therapy, but it becomes particularly beneficial as NAD levels naturally decline in the body. This typically occurs as we age, especially from around the age of 40.
However, NAD therapy can also be useful for younger adults, especially those with demanding lifestyles, high levels of stress, or to enhance cognitive and physical performance. NAD therapy can be a powerful tool for maintaining cellular vitality, improving energy, overall well-being and supporting health as we age.
First up, you'll chill in a cozy chair at our clinic. It's super peaceful, so feel free to read, jam to some tunes, or just kick back and relax.
One of our friendly docs will have a look at your health history and break down how the therapy works. Got questions? Fire away – it's the perfect time to ask.
Next, we'll gently pop a tiny needle into a vein in your arm. This little guy is hooked up to the bag with the NAD+ magic juice.
With the IV all set, we start the slow drip of NAD+. We take it easy, usually over a couple of hours, to make sure your body's getting along with it just fine.
While the drip's doing its thing, you can keep on relaxing. Some folks even feel extra calm and comfy during the whole deal.
When we're all finished, we'll take out the IV. You'll feel just like your usual self and can get back to your day, no sweat.
We'll give you recommendations for after the therapy and can schedule future sessions according to your needs.
